The Preschool years are the foundation of successful endeavors in life. It is during these periods that the child develops positive and desirable personal values and attitudes towards his or her own self, others, learning, and life itself. The inquiring and curious mind of the child is at peak and is best motivated during this time. Therefore, the school’s goal is to provide the child with a dynamic context where he or she experiences life with positive outlook through proper motivation and encouragement from a warm and caring environment.

At Preschool, the child learns reading and writing, and math skills while developing desirable values and habits for social, moral, and physical aspects. The school emphasizes strong academic and character foundation.

The Academic Year 2020-2021 has paved a new mode of learning in Preschool.  Modular Distance Learning is set for this level.  Learning areas are integrated into one module each week covering Reading and Writing, Mathematics, and activities for Daily Living.  The teacher gives modules on the first day of the class week alongside a video presentation of  lessons.  Throughout the week, the parents guide the child at home for at least half an hour everyday, to accomplish activities according to their paces.  The teacher is available to assist for any learning difficulty encountered during the week.  The teacher may be asked for face time or a supplement set of activities.  Assessment happens weekly so that the child follows his or her own pace in the next lessons.

Modules are available at the AdSI Hub.

Elementary Program

“Develop a passion for learning.  If you do, you will never cease to grow.”

From Kindergarten to Grade 6, the Elementary years is the period of milestones in the learning stages. Knowledge, skills, and character introduced in the Preschool years are honed, reinforced, or reinstituted during these years. Learners are at the prime of being active, so the school’s basic task is to provide the child with a great level of motivation to increase authentic learning engagement that translates into increased transfer of knowledge, skills, and values.

The Academic Year 2020-2021 has given opportunity to the School to explore other ways of learning.  Distance Learning is the mode of instruction this year.  Essentially self-directed learning, this modality may be challenging for elementary learners; thus, important modifications are placed to enhance learning.

In attending AdSI’s Distance Learning Program, the learner will receive a study pack from the AdSI Hub, containing a set of lessons with pre-recorded videos, instructions, and required activities to be accomplished within a scheduled period.  To maintain the School’s round-table discussion, the subject teacher meets the class at least twice a week to engage the learners in academic discussions, clarify concepts and ideas, answer lesson questions, and share feedback.

Junior High School Program

‘The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.’ – Alvin Toffler

Junior High School consists of four years of schooling.  Through inquiry-based learning and outcomes-based approach, these years gear towards the development of thinking skills through application and demonstration.  Content and instruction equip the learners with the necessary understanding and skills for more independent study and work. Emphasis is on academic rigor and integrity that requires learners’ participation and commitment.

The junior high school academic curriculum requires a study on the core subjects of English, Science, Mathematics, and Social Studies.  Alongside the core subjects are the equally important non-core subjects of Music, Arts, PE, Filipino, Computer Technology, Research Writing, and Integrated Classes that serve to unleash the creative minds of the learners.

Learners are required to complete task-based assignments and projects, as well as to participate in service-oriented leadership activities.

Academic Year 2020-2021 requires a heightened sense of academic integrity, responsibility, perseverance, and humility from our learners, as the learning modality of the School shifts to Distance Learning.  Learning will be managed through the AdSI Hub.

Senior High School Program

The rigorous process of learning to develop and ask questions offers students the invaluable opportunity to become independent thinkers and self-directed learners. – Dan Rothstein

Senior High School comprises two years of academic requirements and performance tasks.  The Department of Education launched four tracks from which learners can choose to best prepare them for their future careers.

Academia de Sophia International offers only the Academic Track, in keeping with its learning philosophy.  Learners may choose from STEM, ABM, and GAS, strands available in the school.

These strands provide intensive academic training for tertiary education.  Upon graduation, learners should have acquired the necessary skills and values vital for success in their tertiary education.

Academic Year 2020-2021 demands the highest sense of academic integrity, responsibility, perseverance, and humility from learners as they are highly required to fully uphold the spirit of Distance Learning.  Governed by flexible study time and self-directed research and task completion, the learners ought to exercise self-management, self-restraint, and self-evaluation to complete requirements in their most impressive quality.  Learning will be managed through the AdSI Hub.

Academic Support Programs

Academic support programs serve to enhance the academic capabilities of our learners through specialized activities that target specific skills.

  • Academic Drills are conducted to sharpen skills in reading comprehension, mathematics, and critical thinking.
  • Book Reading Programs such as D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) promote appreciation for reading and challenge learners to read, summarize, and analyze different reading materials.
  • E-learning supplements also target the enhancement of reading, arithmetic, and science skills.

Non Academic Programs

Non-academic programs provide an avenue for other learner interests to develop leadership and socialization skills. These include:

    • Learners’ Council
    • English Club – Book Reading Club
    • Math and Science Club
    • Social Studies Club – Debate Society, Model UN Club
    • Recreational Club – Performing Arts Club, Sports Club, Music Club
    • Social Involvement Program
    • School Paper – The Guardian

Foreign Language Programs

We offer Mandarin. Each Mandarin class has three levels – Beginner, Intermediate, and Advance.  However, Mandarin is temporarily suspended for the Academic Year 2020-2021.

Special Remediation Program

The Special Remediation Program (SRP) for foreign students is an intensive content-based set of courses that develop proficiency in the English language.  Each SRP student completes an intensive language program through an immersion with a community that requires them to use English as the only medium of communication. Learning concepts are taken from current events, history, literature, science, technology and others and are drawn together as foundation for developing the language skills of listening, reading, writing and speaking.

Activities include: essay writing, public speaking, research writing, role playing, debate, and man-to-man learning.
