To be the Greatest Steak
I have heard my aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends tell me what a tough curriculum Academia de Sophia International had. My friends ask me, “Why do you have so much school work?” and I reply, “That is AdSI.” Although students and parents complain, I believe it is the curriculum of AdSI that makes them stay. Arduous. Rigorous. Indeed! Yet why would parents want their children to endure such program? I have found the answer through my many years of enduring such… and that is so that we, learners, can become great steaks.
My mom feeds me the most tender and juicy steaks ever. Just the sight of it makes my mouth water every time. Who does not love a good steak? No restaurant has beaten the steak my mom gives me, so I got curious as to how such amazing steaks are made. What is her secret? She told me, “the keys to a great steak are tenderizing and marinating.” She told me how important it is to tenderize the meat and pound it to soften it, and then, to marinate it right away. That way, the meat would be tender for the flavors to fully set in.
I believe we learners are just like the meat, preparing to be great steaks.
Though it may sound horrible, like meat, we are being pounded to be tender. We may not see the significance of it at first, but we will see it in the end. The rigorous AdSI curriculum starts from kindergarten. Why do we have to tolerate this hardship at such an early age? Well, when people say hardship makes us stronger in life, the same applies to studies. The program starts to mold us in our younger years, making us stronger and ready for what is to come next. Then, the process also makes us a lot tender. We become emphatic. All being in a rigorous program, we feel what hardship means for others. We understand what our schoolmates feel when a ton of homework is due the next day. It makes us stronger as a group, too.
After tendering the meat, the right marinade is just as important. Soaking the meat in the marinade will allow it to absorb the flavors. Just like the marinade, a rigorous program must come with the right curriculum. I do believe that AdSI has a rigorous training because of the curriculum it has. Being soaked in this curriculum, we, learners, get to absorb the academic skills and values we can get. Marinating takes time, I learned. An overnight-marinated meat tastes better than a one-hour marinated one. Similar to the meat, so that taste does not become a mere coating, we must take time in absorbing academic skills and values, so that we carry those through our lives, in however we think, feel, and do.
Like the great steaks, when the time comes, we are ready. People would want us for how knowledgable, capable, strong, and emphatic we are, and that makes a great difference in the world today.
