About Us

Welcome Message

Academia de Sophia International is a growing academic community founded in 2003 with 15 initial students. From its humble beginnings, the school has grown into an academic institution that is in persistent pursuit of academic excellence, leadership and service, and internationalism.

In its service, the school commits to an overarching mission: Leadership and Service through Academic Excellence. A commitment to academic integrity while leading and participating in sustainable activities that help the world is envisioned for each member of the school community.

We, AdSI, continuously develop an integrated thinking curriculum. We consistently strive for an honored tradition of rigorous academics. We believe in academic excellence as a powerful instrument in training leaders who bring positive change to the world.

School Profile

Academia de Sophia International flourished from an educational belief that a great nation roots from its citizens possessing a good academic foundation and a passion towards what is good for the world.

The School is a co-educational, K-12, non-stock, and non-sectarian educational institution.

AdSI is home to four major academic departments: Preschool, Elementary, Junior High School, and Senior High School. Presently, the school is in service to a limited number of learners per grade level to suit the School’s ideal class size of learners that boosts engagement.

Round-table discussion is the School’s method of instruction.  Each learner is encouraged to actively participate, honing an inquiring attitude and mindset.  The teacher serves as the facilitator while the learners are the main participants of learning activities.

The School curriculum provides a focus on core subjects – English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.  Non-core subjects serve as support and complementary areas that develop the learner’s holistic growth.  Academic support programs are present to aid learners who find certain subjects very challenging, or on the other hand, to satisfy advance academic capabilities of other learners.

The School advocates its host city’s Character First thrust.  To strengthen character, AdSI highlights a value of the month that reminds the school community of actions, emotions, and thoughts that promote desirable outcomes.

Vision and Mission

Excel to Lead and Serve: Academic Excellence, Leadership, Service

We envision Academia de Sophia International as a transformative international community committed to developing inquiring, knowledgeable, strategic, and empathic leaders and scholars who help create a progressive society through academic excellence, service to humankind, and intercultural understanding and respect.

In its pursuit, the School Seal embodies the spirit of Academia de Sophia International.

The school seal is a combination of symbols showing the relationship of wisdom and virtue. The world embodies the global vision of the school for a desirable change. Gold is the bright and precious sun enlightening the phoenix of new life, one lived with leaves of honor and victory, through the book of knowledge and the sword of virtues.

Academia de Sophia International believes in Sapientia et Virtus – wisdom and virtue. An individual can shed light to the world through virtuous wisdom and wise virtues.

Philosophy

Academia de Sophia International believes that quality education is that which inspires an individual to perform responsible, critical, and creative thinking. Education is a process of drawing out the optimum capability of the child to function as a thinking being.

We believe that teaching and learning are processes of inquiry that require the child to invent and reinvent the world to develop knowledge, skills and character. Learning is thinking, and thinking is becoming. The child is a thinker and a problem solver who constructs understanding through meaningful interactions in and outside of the classroom.

We believe that the child is central to all learning pursuits, becoming a successful learner who is knowledgeable, strategic, self determined, and empathic. We believe that teaching and learning is to teach the child how to think rather than what to think, and how to learn to become a learning individual rather than to become a learned individual.

Live not for yourself, but for others
Serve others
Sacrifice for others
Dignify yourself
Study hard

School-wide Learning Results

At the end of the learning process, we expect our learners to be:

Knowledgeable. Our students are able to acquire a substantial body of organized knowledge they are able to use in the real world as they solve problems and make choices.

Inquirers and Thinkers. Our students apply higher levels of thinking as they explore, investigate, and examine complex problems and situations to make reasoned judgment and choices. They build a natural inquiring curiosity that leads to independent research and study.

Communicators. Our students efficiently, creatively, and confidently understand and express themselves in different modes of communication in more than one language, within varying contexts. They work and learn willingly and effectively both as individuals and as collaborators.

Strategic. Our students build “a repertoire of thinking and learning strategies that they use with skill and purpose to think about and control their own learning and guide their learning with content” with a sense of independence.

Self Determined. The learners feel capable and continually strive to acquire and use tools that they need to learn. They have a steadfast determination to succeed in whatever task.

Empathic. Learners see and view themselves and the world from multiple lenses. They try to understand events, ideas, and issues from the perspectives of different people from different backgrounds and circumstances. They learn how to be sensitive to the needs and feelings of others, with a sense of commitment to serve. They act with compassion and care for others.

Principled. Our students think, talk, and act with integrity, humility, responsibility, and perseverance with due respect to individuals, groups, and communities.
